Work with Me as a parent coach_Judy Banfield

There are a number of ways that we can work together to help you be a more confident, competent and happy parent.

Below is a list of the services I offer and what you will experience in each one.

Coaching for New Moms

The transition to motherhood is one of the most profound life changes women experience. Your whole sense of self, your identity, your sense of competence, your sense of control, your priorities, your relationships… all change. Overnight.

Most moms experience a wide range of feelings, both positive and negative which can seem overwhelming. If you are a new mom (newborn to age 1) when we coach together we will explore all the issues and concerns you have and find ways to help you feel good about yourself in your new role, and yourself as a person. We will also focus on the best and easiest ways to meet your baby’s changing needs.

Coaching for Parents of Young Children (age 1-5)

Toddlers and preschoolers are delightful and remarkable. In a few short years they develop mobility, language, creativity and imagination, their curiosity blossoms, their physical skills accelerate and they become delightful companions! But toddlers and preschoolers can also challenge us to the core. Delightful as they are, they are also irrational, demanding, emotionally volatile, resistant, and trying to be their own person yet needing to stay close and connected at the same time. They definitely have their own opinions.

For many parents, this is a difficult and confusing time that can undermine your sense of yourself as a competent parent.

When we coach together we will explore all aspects of toddler and/or preschooler development and behaviour. I will help you find ways to support your child’s development in a positive, connected, and loving way. You will learn about normal child development, learn parenting and “discipline” approaches that result in all around healthy, secure, confident and competent people.

Group Coaching for Parents

Getting together with other parents, getting to know, explore, and learn about parenting, and building a support community, is a wonderful and powerful way to gain confidence as a parent. As a La Leche League Leader, a Parent Education Group Leader, a New Mom Support Group Leader and a Post Partum Depression Group Leader, I can honestly say that some of the most impactful learning and personal change emerges from connecting and sharing feelings and experiences with other parents. I will be offering live, real-time group support programs on a range of topics for you to participate in.

Breastfeeding Support

As a 32 year La Leche League Leader and an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant, I have a great breadth of experience supporting moms in their breastfeeding choices. My goal has always been to empower moms and to provide them with the information and perspectives that contribute to a positive breastfeeding experience. When working with me for breastfeeding support, it will be in my role as a Lactation Consultant, not a La Leche League Leader.

When you and I work together we will tailor our focus to meet your needs. You may be the mother of a new baby and a toddler and dealing with a major life change all at once. Whatever your situation, we will address it together.

I look forward to working with you.

“As a working professional and a new mom, I wanted advice from someone who was both current and had a wide breadth of knowledge. Judy helped me with everything from breastfeeding to co-sleeping to working through my emotional experience as a parent. Her support was instrumental. As new moms, we should all have some time with Judy.”

“As a new mother, I sometimes felt bewildered and overwhelmed. Judy Reminded me of the wisdom and instincts that I already had and taught me the skills that I needed. I always went home reassured, empowered, and refuelled.”
